I Want To Do A Boudoir Shoot But Have 'Nothing To Wear'
Let’s stop right here! What do you mean that you have ‘nothing to wear’? You do realize that we are talking about a boudoir shoot, right? Having ‘nothing’ to wear is cool with us…we don’t judge ;)~
All kidding aside, we totally get it! The feeling of not knowing what to wear can cause a lot of anxiety…we get it. We know that the feeling can even deter you from taking the leap to celebrate yourself in this sexy and unique way. Well, by the time your scheduled session comes around, we will help you realize that you have so much more to wear than you could possibly fit into your session. In fact, the challenging decision will likely not be WHAT to wear, but rather WHICH to wear.
A little side story to lead us into this discussion; so this weekend, we celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary. We managed to get a babysitter for the kids, made dinner reservations, dressed up all fancy, and treated ourselves. And as usual, we deliberated back and forth about all of the amazing options on the menu. Mindy loves seafood but is often practical about meal prepping at home and rarely treats herself to it. Lou loves a good steak and has become quite the regular grill master at home. So what’s this have to do with choosing what to wear for a boudoir session?
Just like our decision-making at the restaurant, there are many angles in which to approach this topic, and the right one(s) for you will depend on what your goals are for your session. Are you doing this boudoir as a gift for him/her? Then you may want to grab his favorite sports jersey or button-down shirt and tie. Are you doing your shoot as a ‘hell yeah for me’? Then celebrate your favorite body part by wearing items that will emphasize just that. Are you a couple caught up in the monotony of everyday life, then maybe challenge yourselves and your boundaries by choosing to wear items with some shock value to awaken one another’s senses. Get him or her to look at you that way again!
For us, our decisions at the restaurant came down to stepping out of our normal routines and choosing something out of the norm for us; something that we wouldn’t normally eat or at least not have readily accessible, much like the suggestion we made to a couple looking to break up the monotony of everyday life. The reality is that each and every boudoir session we shoot has a special and unique vibe, energy, and purpose. So what you choose to wear will usually be a reflection of these aspects. You may end up giving ‘what to wear’ an immense amount of thought and deliberation, but ultimately, the sexiest things you can wear are your heart on your sleeve and confidence in your soul.
FYI - In case you are wondering, Mindy enjoyed some lobster tails, mussels, shrimp, over a bed of squid-inked linguini and Lou skipped out on steak and instead tried the lamb shank over *polenta (first time trying it). YUM!
